Most of our cases have an international component. Alexandra, and Lise studied (besides Dutch law) the law of their country of origin: Switzerland and Denmark. Camilo holds a PhD in Spanish constitutional law. This knowledge of foreign law, and our ability to work in six languages, makes us apt to work in international cases.
Many of our clients are based outside the Netherlands, and we provide the legal services they need to conduct their business here, or represent them in a dispute with a Dutch company. We have ample experience in advising on international commercial contracts, representing clients in Dutch legal proceedings, and the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards in the Netherlands. We also advise multinationals who conduct business in several jurisdictions.
Our advice often concerns questions of private international law or conflicts law: which law applies, which judge has jurisdiction? And we determine international strategy: where will we go to court, can we obtain preliminary measures in the Netherlands or abroad? If necessary, we coordinate the legal advice and actions to be taken in several jurisdictions.
Often, we are able to communicate with our clients in their mother tongue or a language they are otherwise familiar with. We work in English, Dutch, French, German, Spanish and Danish. We have clients from the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark and Romania, but also from other Spanish, French and English speaking countries, as well as Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.
